What is Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)? Where is it used?

We all use websites and visit various blogs on a daily basis. The basic skeleton of these blogs and websites is mad-up of, what is termed as, the Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML), which is also called as the basic building block of the world of websites.

If we break up the word HTML then we can understand its true meaning. Hyper Text means, the various websites and the aligning web-pages are interlinked with each other through what is called a Hyper Text. You must have noticed that on websites like Wikipedia, there are numerous links given onto texts and once you click those you are able to view a different web-page of the same website or a completely different website or blog.

The word Markup in HTML means, it is the basic code which tells the browser how the text, images, videos, sound files shall be displayed by the respective web-pages. This Markup Language is further divided into elements which perform their independent functions and are designed to execute those in an orderly manner.
