Machine Learning is one of the hot topics of today. Every possible industry is talking and thinking about the systems which will help them reduce costs and increase efficiency in the long term. Major technology companies have already implemented diverse tools and technologies and are onto devising newer ones through this method called as machine learning.
What exactly is machine learning? Machine learning (ML) is a broad, multi-disciplinary field of study that makes use of mathematics, statistics and computer science to develop algorithms that can interpret information, without being explicitly programmed. Examples can be found literally everywhere online, from your Google search suggestion to Facebook’s photo tagging to Amazon’s shopping recommendations, its a technology used everywhere.
Machine learning is a subset of Artificial Intelligence, used to describe a family of methods that have the ability to learn without being explicitly programmed. The machine (computer) is fed with some sort of data (sample/training data) and it translates this into the model data. Google’s DeepMind AI team and Facebook AI have recently put the spotlight on machine learning methods with their highly capable projects and experimentations for a variety of applications. It can give humans significant improvements in data preparation, classification and other related processes.
Applications are very diverse such as the development of self-learning systems, systems that can perform complex tasks such as driving, translating, image recognition, interpreting huge financial data, medical diagnoses, and detecting cancer.
